Antilles missing councils World Cup preparation in international cricket tournaments

The recent embarrassing performances from home the West Indies Cricket team during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 West Indies and the two match knock out twenty 20 World Cup held in South Africa highlights the lack of preparation, the team for major tournaments to take.

The evidence is to show that whenever West Indies has done well in recent times due to preparation was. Often the preparation was accidentally trust on the regional governing body due to circumstances beyond their control.

As the West Indies of the ICC Champions Trophy in England 2004 the team had adequate preparation on the basis of international devices. The team already had a few months in England, competing in the NAT trophy, a triangular tournament host England with New Zealand and a one day and a test series with England spend.

It was amazing to hear experts claim that the turn-around in the team was the performance due to the destruction of the Islands by Hurricane Ivan. Even though this claim might have some merit it is this writer's opinion that the factor which played the greatest role core team together had for a long time.

In 2006, when the West Indian ICC Champions Trophy in India, was the team back together for a long time again due to ICC schedule. Plan the out-of-place DLF Cup in Malaysia and the determination by the ICC, which must qualify because of their low one day West Indies made ranking meant that the team on the subcontinent about 6 weeks was off before the tournament rolled.

And quiet when West Indies won recently the one-day series against England under the captaincy of Chris Gayle this victory came at the end of a six-week tour of the country. Again all focused on Gayle's captaincy with little regard for the preparation of the core of the team while he had earlier part of the tour cultures.

In a region where cricket can be best describe how religion fans to live current players set one up to high standards, by previous teams expect it's indeed incomprehensible why team preparing little regarding is kept. Perhaps it is the view that the West Indian natural cricketer is, a view I think that was the West Indies Cricket administrators, players and fans etch in the subconscious during the dominance of the eighties.

But times have changed and with this change came the break down the informal cricket structure that was largely responsible for the glory days of West Indies Cricket. It is therefore of utmost importance that the message is getting administrators of and -the wider public in the General cricket that international sport needs a professional approach.

Cricket is still a team sport and although a brilliant individual performance can win a game too often it is not enough on the international route. Caribbean compared to other international cricket team includes islands separated by water. It is not enough no preparations are for players at Grantley Adams international airport on your way to a tournament with little meet.

It is also not sufficient to return after a tour in this era for the team in the Caribbean and dissolve at the airport only with instructions to follow individual training routines. Professional teams train for competition as a unit in this way better to understand their roles members and how to bind your roles in the of all display team.

Now, as has the team and the region's was embarrassing in two major tournaments of the International Cricket Council because of lack of adequate preparation. It is important that new West Indies Cricket Hunte and his Board numerous changes must occur see President Julian when the regional team has a chance to compete if on the international stage.
