World cricket - silent one hit wonders

What is it that makes a one hit wonder in the cricket world? In the music industry, it quite literally means just that. A tape or pop star from which nothing comes out and makes an absolute hit, and then disappears from the existence. I don't think perhaps vanilla ice? But in cricket, it is slightly different. I think that a one hit wonder in world Cricket is a player terms noted for one standout performance absolutely.

You may well have had a career before and after, but everything fades into insignificance to their a great time in the Sun. It may highlight cruel too few players. Maybe you're sick of hearing about this moment, but when the moment is especially outstanding, then to remember it and worth mentioning, even if the player never close again and again received at this moment.

The idea for this article was born from a recent trip of the MCG. I was there just a recent South Africa defeat of Australia in the first test of the recent Commonwealth Bank series. I found in a jovial cricket discussion remember back to good memories I had on the ground.

Dean Headley

Perhaps one of the most beautiful came in the 1998 / 1999 ashes series saw as I, that a young tearaway named Dean Headley completely destroy a then dominant Australian batting card.

Now Dean Headley was relatively a successful bowler in his short time in the squad. He played his first test against Australia in Manchester in 1997, but the Manchester test against New Zealand in 1999, his test career was over. Headley lasted 60 wickets in 15 tests at 27.85 meant a helluva start in every career, but injuries and a ridiculous English selection policy currently, Headley would really only for standout performance reminds be.

The 4th looked ashes test at the MCG Alec Stewart and Steve Waugh, make both first innings centuries for their respective pages like Australia running under the direction of 70 after their first innings. England managed only 244, with Graeme top Hick scoring with 60. This left the Aussies, then with the like by Michael Slater, the Waugh twins, Mark Taylor and Justin Langer, 175 to win result. It was at that time I've seen, I witnessed of one of the most outstanding bowling efforts.

Headley's numbers:

17 Overs 5 maidens 6wkts for 60runs

It was amazing from a man in his second season of cricket. Release like Slater, Waugh Lehmann, and skittling the Kegler was Headley unplayable. England won the match by 12 runs, beaten in the series, but got Headley's performance was something to remember from the touring an otherwise disappointing English squad.

Anthony Stuart

Perhaps an even better example of a one hit wonder is Australia's Anthony Stuart. Stuart played a meager 3 ODI Australia, but surprisingly this 1996-7 included a hat-trick against Pakistan at the MCG. The hat trick Pakistani contain legends Ijaz Ahmad and moin Kahn and Mohammad Wasim.

Stuart ended with the numbers:

10 Overs 1-maiden-5wkts for 26runs

What makes this perfect one hit wonder moment is the that Stuart never played for Australia and indeed was State page fell from his period of 12 months.

Matthew Sinclair

Our last example is a man today, test always by his exceptional start cricket will be charged. New Zealand's Mathew Sinclair scored two double century in his first 12 test matches. The first had on his debut against West Indies in 1999, which still Courtney Walsh in your page. The second was against Pakistan in the following summer. Sinclair has gone on 32 tests over 10 years, a true character play that he was not to secure a place in the page. I think, is really a two-hit wonder, but he is perhaps the best example for a player who was burdened by his outstanding early performances.
